I’m pleased to introduce you the first release of the April-June Issue of the Integral Leadership Review. First off, I have to say I am excited to be heading to the Integral European Conference, May 4th – 8th. Our very own Natasha Mantler will be presenting on Women’s Authentic Leadership Development, delving into the correlation between women’s authentic leadership and stages of adult development. I have the pleasure of leading a dialogue around Searching for Next Stage Organizations, seeking to bridge adult developmental theory and organizational development. And of course there will be over 100 other presenters, including Hilary Bradbury and Jon Freeman, who are featured below. You can get your last minute tickets here!

That’s right, we have a special video interview with Hilary Bradbury and William Torbert as they discuss the learning’s from their journey of writing Eros/Power: Love in the Spirit of Inquiry. With a book review by Joseph Friedman as well, there is plenty to introduce you to the courageous unpacking of dynamics of power and eros by Integral’s own Bill and Hilary!

Gabriel Wilson, Ten Directions certified Integral Facilitator, writes the Leadership Coaching Tip, reminding us about not Letting Our Differences Have Their Way With Us.

The leadership quote comes for Kegan and Lahey’s new book, The Everyone Culture, introducing the Deliberately Developmental Organization, the Harvard Graduate School of education version of Teal. I’ll follow up with a book review in the next release. In the meantime, Nancy Southern reviews The Transformative Workplace: Growing People, Purpose, Prosperity and Peace, Carole and David Schwinn’s book which is another well researched and important work in this paradigm. And in case you missed it, here are some of my thoughts on Laloux’s Reinventing Organizations from this time last year. Exciting times to be in development!

Our two feature articles span the reaches of reality, known and otherwise. Michael Schwartz waxes philosophical as he advocates for the role of philosophy in leveraging disenchantment into enchantment by expanding our ontologies to include the metaphysical realities glimpsed in subtle and causal states. Jon Freeman grounds this a bit for us, presenting his book The Science of Possibility in an easily digestible chunk bringing science and consciousness into the same conversation.

As a special treat, Jaap Geerlof & Anke van Beckhoven offer a Peer Reviewed article on Complexity, self-organization and leadership: Enlivened experiences from The Netherlands.

Rounding out the book reviews, Arzina Zaza gives two different one’s on Grit!

And last but not least, special thanks to Michelle Josephi for a lovely piece of original art to beautify our cover!

Blessings to all!!!

Eric
